Can Ponytail Hairstyles Cause Hair Loss?

Have you noticed that you have been losing more hair than usual lately? If you are suffering from hair loss, there could be a number of reasons that are causing the hair to be lost from the head – and one of the most common causes of this hair loss is using ponytail hairstyles in the hair. As people usually wear the hairstyles in a tight elastic, the elastic that is wrapped around the hair tight can actually pull the hair out from the root.
Wearing the hair in an elastic can actually cause the hair to move away from the scalp, and can cause breakage throughout the hair follicle. Due to this breakage through the hairstyle, the hair loss becomes more and more noticeable.
How can you help to reduce the hair loss in the style? To reduce the hair loss, you could use covered elastics in the hairstyle as these are less likely to cause damage and breakage to the hairstyle that is being created. These hairstyles may be more expensive, but they can ensure that the hair is going to remain in tact. In addition, you can use loose elastics in the hair. Loose elastics are not going to pull at the hair and therefore reduce the hair loss because of the lack of tight styles in the hair.
Rather than using ponytails, you can choose to use braids and other styling techniques in the hair. Using these styling techniques, you are going to be able to create a hairstyle that is pulled back and off the face, but without causing the hair loss with the tight elastics that are used to pull the hair back off the face. Finding these alternatives and using deep conditioning treatments to nourish the hair can be an effective way to reduce the hair loss caused by elastics.
