Filed under: Hair Styles Author: Lori
Bob haircuts are one of the most popular types of hairstyles as it is considered to be a traditional hairstyle with modern variations that have been created for the popular hairstyle. As one of the most popular hairstyles that is available, these variations can range from angled hairstyles that have been created to appear as one length, or hairstyles which have been created through the use of layers. With many variations of the bob available, how do you choose between the various styles which are available? There are many aspects which should be considered when choosing a hairstyle and the bob haircut is no different.
Here are some aspects that should be considered when choosing the bob hairstyle:
Consider the shape of the face. There are some facial shapes which are more appropriate to various types of bob hairstyles. Through the use of angled bobs, facial shapes that are considered round can benefit from the shape of the hair, which can reduce the appearance of the roundness of the face. Through hairstyles like the short bob, small features can be accentuated with the hairstyle. Determining your face shape can help to find the right hairstyle for you.
Choose a bob haircut that comes with the type and style of maintenance that you are willing to complete on the hair. Through the haircut, there are certain styling tools and techniques which should be used for different bob haircuts. For example, can you fit straightening, drying and styling the hair into the daily beauty routine? Some layered bobs require styling daily in order to be at their best and therefore learning this information before the style has been created can help you to choose a bob haircut.

I agree! These bobs are everywhere now and almost universally flattering to any face shape also. Just the other day I was shown a longer bob haircut on a lady who visited our salon. She proudly told me that it was her husband had cut her bob. I was surprised because A-Line bobs do require some skills and he was an AC technician… she went on to say that he had used a template band and haircut kit from http://www.cutabob.com to get results but without any professional training. It was hard not to be impressed. I went through the lines of the haircut but couldn’t admit out loud that looked nearly identical as the ones done by our $75 head stylist. I don’t know how it works exactly but I will attest that she had very impressive results with it. I have mixed feelings admitting it because while I know it will lead to lost revenue for our salon, but at the same time I know that it will save many DIY’ers money and the economy is very tight for many.
She later confided to me that her husband had been laid off for 6 months and she couldn’t afford the cost of a salon visit. How can you argue with that? I then praised his skills and complimented her on a nearly technically perfect haircut.

The girl in this picture here looks good with a bob cut but she has a HUUGGE forhead and it makes her look like she just stuck a mop ontop of her head and straightened it, no offence to her. She is in serious need of some bangs, it just looks really weird like that.

Jasmine,
You are right, bangs can indeed help to shorten a face that appears long, but also how the hair is styled to the side can sometimes cause the face to appear longer – so a different style may have suited her better, too.
