The Basics of Emo Haircuts
Filed under: Hair Styles Author: hairstyles
Emo haircuts are popular with teenagers and popular with young adults as the modern style is versatile and can be used to create a variety of hairstyles. They are so popular that every stylist has learned how to create these modern hairstyles that make use of short layers combined with longer layers and include funky and fresh hair accessories within most of the styles.
Emo hairstyles for girls are dark in color with various streaks of bleached blonde or other colors. These long hairstyles can be seen on the streets and are popular because of the long length that is combined with short layers which are backcombed to create the signature Emo hairstyle look of puffy hair in the back and the sides, creating volume through the top of the hair.
Emo hairstyles are always straight and include perfectly straightened hair with the use of finishing spray to ensure that there is the most amount of volume which can be created with the use of a fine comb, backcombing techniques and finishing spray.
Emo hairstyles for guys are also straight and include dark colors with streaks or highlights of colors or light blonde. Many guys make use of a straightening device to ensure that the hair is as Emo as possible.

How to Create Emo Hairstyle Spikes or Shag
Use hair styling products to mold your emo haircut to look the way that you want it to. In particular, a sculpting gel that offers a long lasting hold is going to provide the best performance. Gels that stiffen your hair allow you to spike it as well as allowing the spike to remain. Hair sprays can also be used to help maintain your styling efforts.
Follow these steps to create the spikes or shaggy look that you prefer for your hair.
•Style your hair immediately after shampooing while it is still wet. If you aren‘t planning to shampoo your hair at the time, simply wet your hair.
•Place a generous amount of gel on your hair and work it through with your fingers.
•Shape your hair into the spikes or shags that you would like to have.
•Blow dry your hair until it is completely or almost completely dry.
•Add more gel as needed to maintain your spikes.
•Avoid using a brush once you have styled your emo haircut.
•If you want to ensure that your hair stays set, use a strong–hold hairspray to spray it generously.
Incase anyone was wondering
